How to Appreciate Fine Art Nudity

Mask is a photographic collection of artistic nudes. The book features nine different models and over 40 images of beautiful women in the nude. In the viewfinder, these photographic collages of advertising, publicity and media shots often combine ordinary people undertaking everyday activities to form complete visual contradictions.

I do not assume that my pictorial studies portray anything more than the image I see. The viewer can take it from there. The nude can celebrate the body as the most marvelous and beautiful creation of God, and in so doing remind us that we are made in God’s image. At the same time, the nude reminds us that we bear the burden of the loss of innocence suffered by our “first parents” and of our separation from God. Though done in a very tasteful, artistic manner, if you are offended by such imagery please do not enter. If you are of legal age and are not offended by female or male fine art nudes, please feel free to enter.

As a student of art history, I became increasingly aware of the issues which surround the depiction of the nude in art: issues of gender, social class, and power. My artwork addresses these issues through an exploration of the dialogue which exists between the nude subject, the artist who interprets, and the audience who views the work. I chose colors of inspiration, power, love, and feeling.

At Home is a portrait series from photographer Trevor Brady that explores the relationship of the ‘comfort of nudity’ and that which we surround ourselves with to make our dwelling our home. The artist is careful to not refer to At Home as a nude series, sighting the term ‘nude’ as too glamorous for this work. View client portrait galleries and custom posters. Fine art prints are available. I am largely a self-taught artist who has a love for illustration and portraiture. I was strongly influenced by Norman Rockwell and consider myself a Rockwellian painter, as I love to tell a story in paint.

They have found, scribbled in the margin of a notebook owned by Leonardo’s friend, a mention that he was painting a portrait of Lisa Gherardini. She had long been considered a likely figure, but over the years many other theories evolved.

While nude is a very grand way of depiction, nudity is a notion that you wish to disrobe somebody. And VHP people are engaged in that depiction of nudity,? The Della Rovere patron who ordered this commission anxiously awaited its completion, describing in correspondence Titian’s Venus of Urbino not as Venus, but simply as a nude woman. The woman appears to be a courtesan, staring boldly at the viewer, unconcerned with her nudity.

An interesting approach. Is “Mask” your work, or something available elsewhere? Good post; it should bring you traffic.

Thanks, Bob. No, the work is from Tim Skipper - great book as the subject is set at ease knowing the viewed will not recognize them. This way the body is set more at ease and natural.
