To share the world as others see it and to offer them calming support and useful alternatives from your own point of view, with the benefit of your own experience and learning. In addition, students have the opportunity to review and critique each other’s work, thus adding to the learning experience. The newly expanded curriculum ensures students have not only practical performance experience but also a strong academic background.

The Vanderbilt University Fine Arts Gallery features six exhibitions each year that represent the diversity of artistic production today, as well as throughout the history of Eastern and Western art. In addition to exhibitions drawn from the permanent collection and organized from public and private sources, a number of traveling exhibitions are presented as well. At this evening event the artist will begin a “start to finish” large (4 foot by 10 foot) watercolor painting demonstration. In addition, he will continue this demonstration every Tuesday night of the show. The membership consists of professional and amateur artists expressing themselves through a wide variety of media. The Guild strives to promote public appreciation for the support of its endeavors through community involvement.

Jasper Johns was an important 20th century artist instrumental in the development of Pop Art, Conceptual Art, and numerous other movements in Europe and the US. Though a series of flag and target images that outraged the art world, Johns transformed ordinary objects into fine art.
